Strolls Workshops

General Strolls Workshops

A stroll is a 1950’s line dance where no partner is required. There are several of them, and they are played periodically at vintage dances to give the dancers a break from jiving.

The Madison Stroll

The Madison was the first line dance and originated around 1957 in Ohio, USA. Teenagers showcased this cool dance on the ‘Buddy Deane Show’ before it was epitomised in 1988 in the movie ‘Hairspray.’

The Cardiff Stroll

The Cardiff Stroll embodies many of the swing movements whose origins lie in the 1930’s. At its heart, it has four sequences that follow the basic step, and it then repeats.

Strolls Workshops

Between jive courses we hold strolls workshops throughout the year. They take place on one evening and last about 2 hours. This fun dance has wide appeal because of its low impact, and affords great opportunity for everyone to take part, regardless of age or ability. A great way to experience dancing for the first time.
