What better time to do this than to celebrate the 250th Anniversary of American Independence! \nWe may be diversifying\, but we believe we are staying true to our roots. Rock n’ Roll music is after all\, a fusion of R&B and Country music\, and you can both JIVE and STROLL to it. This is a brand-new chapter for Surrey Jive\, so why not say you were there from the beginning! \nRather than blend the music played at Ruby’s\, we thought it fair to keep the two genres separate and cater for all. The evening will have a western theme\, and the hall will be decorated to reflect this. Whilst we encourage you to bring out your more flamboyant side\, and don your jeans\, and cowboy hat\, this is not a requirement. It is your company that matters most. You do not have to have attended our classes\, workshops\, or dances to attend. There will be a prize for the best dressed. \nThere is no band\, but DJ Shakin Shep will be ensuring he keeps the dance floor busy\, playing hits by Luke Combs\, Brooks and Dunn\, The Mavericks\, Cody Johson and many more….. Our commitment to you\, will be an unforgettable evening filled with smiles and laughter. \nAshtead Peace Memorial Hall has a large dance floor ready made for jiving and line dancing. It has a licensed saloon\, and AMERICAN FOOD will be available at an additional cost. There is also plenty of free parking for your pickups. \nWhether you’re a lifelong country fan\, or just curious to try something new\, this is your chance to be a part of something special. We go to great lengths to decorate the hall as a period dance hall\, and the props just seem to keep growing every year. So why not get in the spirit and come dressed in 1940’s Allied uniform or civilian dress to add to the authenticity? There will be a prize for best dressed. Who knows\, ladies\, you may even get to dance with a G.I.! That said\, if dressing up is not for you\, please don’t worry\, just come as you are; it is your company that is important. \nTo add to the authenticity of the evening\, we have ‘My Favourite Things’ performing for you so please don’t miss their show. They really are a talented trio\, and when you listen to their harmonies and watch their slick dance routines\, you would think ‘The Andrews Sisters’ had made a comeback! \nBetween sets\, Shakin’ Shep (Surrey Jive’s resident DJ) will be playing some fantastic Swing and RnB music to complement the theme (no Rock n’ Roll this month\, it will return in December). \nOur dances are well attended with a friendly and welcoming atmosphere for all.
