Their original 50’s sound has led them to perform alongside Chuck Berry\, Jerry Lee Lewis and Lonnie Donegan. The Firebirds have 3 singles and 12 album releases to their name and their self-penned single ’59 Ford’ reached over 7.6 million hits on Spotify. Rock n’ Roll music is after all\, a fusion of R&B and Country music\, and you can both JIVE and STROLL to it. This is a brand-new chapter for Surrey Jive\, so why not say you were there from the beginning! \nRather than blend the music played at Ruby’s\, we thought it fair to keep the two genres separate and cater for all. The evening will have a western theme\, and the hall will be decorated to reflect this. Whilst we encourage you to bring out your more flamboyant side\, and don your jeans\, and cowboy hat\, this is not a requirement. It is your company that matters most. You do not have to have attended our classes\, workshops\, or dances to attend. There will be a prize for the best dressed. \nThere is no band\, but DJ Shakin Shep will be ensuring he keeps the dance floor busy\, playing hits by Luke Combs\, Brooks and Dunn\, The Mavericks\, Cody Johson and many more….. We go to great lengths to decorate the hall as a period dance hall\, and the props just seem to keep growing every year. They really are a talented trio\, and when you listen to their harmonies and watch their slick dance routines\, you would think ‘The Andrews Sisters’ had made a comeback! \nBetween sets\, Shakin’ Shep (Surrey Jive’s resident DJ) will be playing some fantastic Swing and RnB music to complement the theme (no Rock n’ Roll this month\, it will return in December). \nOur dances are well attended with a friendly and welcoming atmosphere for all. Ashtead Peace Memorial Hall presents a large sprung dance floor\, licensed bar and large free car park or motor pool.
