Meet the Jive Squadron

Sam & Mick

Sam is the longest standing member of ‘The Jive Squadron’ and the most experienced. She learned to dance with Surrey Jive back in 2010 and she has been teaching for the company ever since. Her dance partner Mick or Siggy as he is fondly known, has a sharp wit and he will always lighten the mood especially during rehearsals. He compliments Sam’s dance style, and together they make a great partnership on the dance floor.

Lindsay & Lee

Lindsay started her dance career in modern jive but soon found herself gravitating towards swing jive. Her depth of experience allows her to fuse these two styles with ease. Competent at lead or follow and with great attention to detail, she was an obvious choice to teach for Surrey Jive. Lee has a passion for all things 1940’s and as a WWII re-enactor he can now bring history to life on the dance floor.

Caroline & Phil

Caroline and Phil started Surrey Jive with Nicola and Paul and much of the company’s early successes were attributed to them. Health issues at that time prevented Caroline from participating fully and they made the difficult decision to step away. With previous jive competition wins at the ‘War and Peace Show’ and ‘Jivemania,’ we feel very lucky to have them back.

Kim & Dave

Kim and Dave are our ballroom champions. It is a testimony to their ability as dancers that they were able to make the transition to swing jive so easily.

With a wealth of experience on the dance floor both as competitors and as teachers, they bring a quiet and unassuming presence to the dance troupe that motivates the others.

Karen & Phil

Karen and Phil first learned to dance as part of the modern jive scene. Wanting to expand their dance repertoire they took up swing jive, and it did not take long before their talents shone through.

They are a graceful couple who show great precision and attention to detail when dancing, and this ensures a solid performance each, and every time.

Mel & Andy

Mel and Andy are the flamboyant couple of the dance troupe, and they have boundless energy. Driven by Andy’s flair and strong desire to have fun, your eyes are automatically drawn to them. They are the perfect example of why people choose to dance. With a jive competition win to their name, in Senigallia, Italy, the quality of their dancing cannot be questioned.

Lynn & Roy

Lynn and Roy are our aerial specialists, and they have no fear when it comes to lifts and drops. They incorporate these high energy moves seamlessly into their dancing which is not easy to do. This makes them a great couple to watch because you never know what they are about to do. They will keep you guessing and mesmerise you with their performance.

Jo & Phil

As dancers, Jo and Phil are dependable, always prepared, and leave nothing to chance. They are fantastic dancers and really come into their own when they have the chance to freestyle. It is in this arena, that they can really show their depth of experience and the wide variety of dance moves at their disposal.

Izzy & Pascal

Izzy and Pascal provide a European presence to the troupe. As you would expect their style is graceful, and they are able to move effortlessly around the dance floor. Pascal is an accomplished swing dancer and extremely knowledgeable when it comes to the music of this period. It is this factor that gives them the edge when it comes to musical interpretation.

Linda & Richard

Linda and Richard have a real warmth about them, and this shines through to their dancing. Their happy demeanour radiates, and this makes them such a lovely couple to watch. No challenge is beyond them, and they will continually strive to overcome these hurdles and take their dancing to the next level.

Tessa & Shaun

Tessa and Shaun are the newest members of our dance troupe, and they bring colour and glamour to the group. Their co-ordinated outfits really do capture the allure of 1950’s fashion. You will not find a more committed pairing and their practice sessions are demanding. Such is their desire to always give their very best performance.
